Hawthorn English Language School - Melbourne
Computer Lab
Hawthorn-Melbourne has open access computer labs with 100+ computers. Students can use free email, Internet and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) activities.

The Centre also has two modern multimedia labs that have overhead projectors, video play back and sound equipment. All students may use these facilities to work on class projects including presentations and developing personal webpages.

Computing classes feature in the curriculum of all Hawthorn-Melbourne programs. Classes are scheduled on a weekly basis for sessions in the computer laboratories.

During these sessions, students use the latest English language learning CD ROMS designed for Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). CALL forms an integral part of the curriculum and is based on work that has been covered in class.

CALL offers students the opportunity to:
  • work at their own pace, either in pairs or individually;
  • have access to immediate feedback;
  • take part in motivating and challenging activities; and
  • gain computer skills.

A range of CALL programs are available in the Independent Learning Centre for individual study. These include programs the latest English language learning programs.
