Elena Colpani (Italy) English for Business
Elena Colpani (Italy)
My name is Elena Colpani and I come from Italy. At home I work for an international freight company. I chose the English for Business' program at Hawthorn-Melbourne because it was important that I developed not only my English ability while in Australia, but also my use of normal business skills in English. The course has taught me about preparing accurate reports, formal business letters, invoices and so on. These are all valuable new skills that I have gained, while developing the 'formal' business English structures and vocabulary. The English for Business course has taught me how to use English at a more professional, more business-like level.

Melbourne is a wonderful place to live while studying. It has a European feel to it. It is also a very multicultural place and you can find food from so many countries. For example, while living in Melbourne I have been able to eat Japanese and Indonesian food for the first time. There are also many interesting things to do in and around Melbourne. I have visited wineries in country Victoria, seen the sights along the Great Ocean Road and visited Sorrento and the Mornington Peninsula.

Hafidh Aman Fairooz (United Arab Emirates)
My name is Hafidh Aman Fairooz and I come from Dubai. In Dubai I have worked as a television writer, producer and presenter of current affairs and news programs. I have also worked as a lawyer and I am in Australia now to do a Master of Law, specialising in information technology law, at the University of Melbourne. English is very important for me, not just for the kind of work that I do, but also because I travel a lot. At Hawthorn-Melbourne I have completed an EAP course and an IELTS Preparation course so far. I will continue on with a higher level EAP course and then take the Intensive Academic Preparation course before graduating.

Since arriving in Melbourne, I have seen several cities including Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane, but I am glad that I chose Melbourne to complete my studies. It is a very multicultural city so it is an interesting place to stay. There are lots of activities going on and there is a clear influence from many different cultures. Melbourne is neither too busy nor too quiet, so it is a very good place to study.
